The Old Brighton Cells

A tall, dark shadow figure, said to be Henry Solomon, Brighton’s first Chief Constable, who was murdered by an inmate, wanders the passageways. A monk has been seen on the lower levels, which were built on the site of a former monastery, and a whispering woman has been heard by visitors.

Decommissioned in the 1960s, the cells are now home to the Brighton Police Museum, and reports from inmates, staff, council workers and visitors have been remarkably consistent over the years.
